John Mayer has dropped his version of Beyonce's "XO." Mayer released the cut on his official SoundCloud page after previously debuting it during his Australian tour last month.

The stripped down rendition features Mayer brooding over acoustic guitar, piano and harmonica.

"[T]he song still packs an emotional punch, which is a testament to the writing job by Ryan Tedder, The-Dream and Bey," writes Idolator of the cover.

Mayer's first cover came during an April performance in Adelaide, Australia.

"The best thing about Beyoncé? The break in her voice on the first 'baby, love me lights out' in XO. Real and raw," he tweeted after the show.

Mayer's next live performance comes June 7 at Landgraaf, Netherlands' Pinkpop fest.
