Peter Marquardt, who played the drug lord Moco in Robert Rodriguez's "El Mariachi," has died. He was 50.
Marquardt, who was best known for playing the white-suited drug lord in Rodriguez's classic film, also appeared in Rodriguez's subsequent films "Desperado," "Spy Kids 3-D" and "The Shadow People." He was cast in "El Mariachi"—despite not speaking Spanish, which had been originally required for the role—after meeting Rodriguez when they shared a room during a drug study for which they were both subjects.
Marquardt died on July 19. His cause of death has not been released.
Before he died, Marquardt had been working in the computer gaming industry.
