Greece HICP Falls At Slower Rate In Aug

Greece's harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, declined at a slower than expected rate in August, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Wednesday.

The HICP fell 0.2 percent year-over-year in August following the 0.8 percent drop in July, slower than the 0.5 percent decline expected by economists.

The index declined at a slower rate for the third consecutive month.

On a month-over-month basis, the HICP dropped at a faster rate of 1.1 percent in August compared with the 1 percent fall in July.

Overall consumer prices slid 0.3 percent year-over-year in August, after the 0.7 percent drop in July. This was slower than the 0.5 percent decrease expected by economists.

On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices declined at the stable rate of 1.2 percent.
