Automobile production in Japan declined in December, figures from the Japan Automobile Manufactures Association showed Friday.
Production volume of four-wheel vehicles fell 2.5 percent to 766,945 units in December. In the year-ago period, production was at 786,720 units.
This marked the sixth consecutive month of annual decline in production.
Automobile exports dropped by 5.7 percent in December. Meanwhile, domestic automobile demand grew 2.1 percent annually to 431,918 units.
Motorcycle production dropped 11.1 percent year-over-year to 51,520 units.
In the January to December period, vehicle production rose 1.5 percent compared to same period last year.
