Alere Inc. (ALR), engaged in rapid diagnostics, said James Hinrichs would be appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective April 6, with global responsibility for Finance, Procurement, IT and Shared Services. Hinrichs succeeds David Teitel who will remain with the company during a transition period.
Hinrichs joins Alere with nearly 25 years of experience in financial and executive leadership roles across the healthcare industry. He most recently served as the CFO of CareFusion, a medical device company headquartered in San Diego, California.
During his tenure at CareFusion, Hinrichs played a key role in helping build the company to become a market leader in anesthesia delivery, infection prevention and infusion medical devices.
Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Controller of Cardinal Health, CFO of Cardinal Health's Clinical and Medical Products segment and the CFO of Cardinal Health's Healthcare Supply Chain Services segment.
He joined Cardinal Health in February 2004 after 12 years of finance and marketing roles at Merck & Co. and two years as the CFO of SangStat Medical Corp., a global biopharmaceutical company, which was acquired by Genzyme Corp. in 2003.
