Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O has paid tribute to journalist Nellie Bly with a new song.
The song was released to mark what would have been Bly's 151th birthday. The new song "Oh, Nellie" was penned by O especially for the Google Doodle.
The Google Doodle image itself was created by artist Katy Wu. The musical animation pays homage to Bly's extraordinary life as a pioneering journalist and adventurer in an era when little more was expected of women than child rearing and housekeeping, Wu said.
It's the first original song to be written for the illustrations that appear on Google's homepage.
Bly, who passed away in 1922, was a pioneer in the field of investigative journalism. She was born Elizabeth Jane Cochran on May 5, 1864.
