Japan Services Sector Expands In August - Nikkei

The services sector in Japan continued to expand in August, and at a faster pace, the latest survey from Nikkei showed on Thursday with a PMI score of 53.7.

That's up from 51.2 in July, and it moves further above the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Among the individual components, new business surged for service providers, while cost pressures were down. Charges were up at a slower rate.

The composite index came in with a score of 52.9, up from 51.5.
