Smokey Robinson, Eric Church, Aloe Blacc and Rhiannon Giddens teamed up for a rendition of Church's song "Kill a Word" during the two hour A&E special Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America.
The event was put on to help spread racial understanding and Church's song was the perfect backdrop.
"If I could kill a word and watch it die / I'd poison 'never,' shoot 'goodbye' / Beat 'regret' when I felt I had the nerve."
All four artists took turns trading off on the powerful lyrics.
Other artists to take part in the A&E special included John Legend, who played a version of the Bruce Springsteen cut "American Skin," and Zac Brown Band, who performed "Remedy" from their album Jekyll & Hyde. Other artists featured were Pharrell Williams, Jill Scott and Nicki Minaj.
