Aerosmith's Brad Whitford Wants Band To Record Album 'Live'

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford says he'd like the band to record its next album "live" in the studio. Whitford noted that the group's 2012 album Music from Another Dimension was hampered by production techniques and thinks that Aerosmith needs to get back to basics.

"I said, 'Let's go record this the same way we recorded Toys In The Attic and Rocks.' Aerosmith is such a good band that I wanted to basically record live, because we play so well together," Whitford told Classic Rock magazine.

"Nobody, including my producer, would go along with that. I was just, 'Man, what's wrong with these guys?' That's the one thing I hate about Pro Tools - you can use it as a tape machine or you can use it as this crutch."

In any case, Whitford is not optimistic about the band reentering the studio at all.

"I really don't know. Joe Perry and I are in the trenches digging away. We're certainly capable of sitting down with the rest of the guys and writing music. If that happens, great. But I'm not going to hold my breath. I really don't know."
