The construction sector in Australia fell back into contraction in May, the latest survey from the Australian Industry Group revealed on Tuesday with a Performance of Construction Index score of 46.7.
That's down from 50.8 in April, and it falls back beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.
The sector has contracted in five of the last six months, AiG said.
Individually, apartment building, engineering construction and commercial construction all contracted, while house building moved back to expansion.
