Food prices in New Zealand were down a seasonally adjusted 0.5 percent on month in May, Statistics New Zealand said on Tuesday.
That follows the 0.3 percent increase in April.
Individually, fruit and vegetable prices fell 2.6 percent on month, while meat, poultry, and fish prices rose 0.2 percent.
On a yearly basis, food prices dipped 0.3 percent after rising 0.5 percent in the previous month.
Fruit and vegetable prices climbed 5.8 percent on year, while meat, poultry, and fish prices fell 3.5 percent.
