Japan's industrial production increased more than initially estimated in April, final data published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Tuesday.

Industrial production climbed 0.5 percent in April from March instead of 0.3 percent reported initially.

However, it was much slower than the 3.8 percent gain in the preceding month.

Growth in shipment was revised to 1.6 percent 1.5 percent, while inventories dropped 1.7 percent, confirming the flash data.

On an annual basis, industrial production fell 3.3 percent in April compared to a 3.5 percent decline previously reported.

The capacity utilization contracted 0.2 percent monthly in April after a 0.1 percent decrease in March.
