New Zealand Retail Sales Climb 2.3% In Q2

Retail sales in New Zealand gained 2.3 percent on quarter in the second quarter of 2016, Statistics New Zealand said on Friday.

That beat expectations for an increase of 1.0 percent following the 0.8 percent gain in the previous three months.

The hardware, building, and garden supplies industry had the largest volume and value sales increases.

The value of total retail sales was NZ$19.9 billion in Q2, up 5.5 percent (NZ$1 billion) on quarter.
