Malaysia's unemployment rate held steady in September, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Thursday.
The jobless rate came in at 3.5 percent in September, the same rate as in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the rate was 3.3 percent.
The number of unemployed people decreased to 512,600 in September from 515,200 in the previous month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 490,300.
The labor force participation rate also remained unchanged at 67.8 percent in September.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate for September was 3.6 percent, unchanged from August.
