Australia Retail Sales Rebound In January

Australia's retail sales increased at the start of the year, after falling in the previous month, figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Monday.

Retail sales rose a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent month-over-month in January, reversing a 0.1 percent slight decrease in December.

Sales of food products went up 0.2 percent over the month and those of household goods grew by 1.4 percent. At the same time, sales at department stores registered a decline of 0.5 percent.
