ADDY is short for address.

An address or ADDY in the crypto world is the string of letters and numbers that is publicly available, meant for single use, and is necessary to receive cryptocurrencies.

An ADDY is otherwise seen as the public key which is 34-alphanumeric character long. There is a 64-alphanumeric character long "private key" for each ADDY , which must be kept a secret by the user.

Interestingly, Bitcoin transactions do not have any kind of origin and hence, there are no "from" address in the network. That means one cannot send Bitcoin from an address.

As it is single use, a user will have to generate multiple addresses. There are free software tools that helps in creating large numbers of addresses offline.

Often, ADDYs are case sensitive and most wallets allow to represent ADDYs with a QR Code that can be scanned.

A Bitcoin address is usually begins with either the number 1 or 3.
