Montreal-born singer-songwriter Corey Hart will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards on March 17.

Meanwhile, Hart has scheduled his first Canadian tour in over 20 years, which kicks off on May 31.

Allan Reid, president & CEO of CARAS/The JUNO Awards & MusiCounts, described Hart as one of the biggest Canadian success stories of the eighties and nineties.

"Even though he stepped back from the spotlight, he remained active in writing and producing for other artists," Reid added. "We look forward to celebrating him at The 2019 JUNO Awards in London."

Responding to the news, Hart said he is deeply humbled by the induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

"It's an incredible honor to be acknowledged alongside so many other talented and venerable Canadian artists," Hart said in a release Wednesday.

Hart, who gave adoring fans popular hits such as "Sunglasses at Night" and "Never Surrender," has one of the most enviable records in album sales history, having sold more than 16 million albums.
