Childish Gambino's "This Is America" has become the first rap song in the history of the Grammys to win the Record of the Year award.
Gambino aka Donald Glover also won three other Grammys during the night, as the track also won Song Of The Year, Best Music Video and Best Rap/Sung Performance.
Co-producer Ludwig Göransson along with engineers/mixers Derek "MixedByAli" Ali and Riley Macki and mastering engineer Mike Bozzi also earned a win for their work on the track.
Gambino skipped the ceremony and Göransson accepted the award and gave a speech on the group's behalf.
"Creating music with Childish Gambino has been one of the greatest stories of my life," Göransson told the crowd. "As a kid growing up in Sweden, loving American music, I always dreamt of migrating here, working with an artist like Donald Glover."
"I really wish he was here with us right now, because this truly was his vision, and he deserves this credit," he continued. "No matter where you're born or what country you're from, you connect with it. It speaks to people. It connects right to your soul. It calls out injustice, celebrates life, and reunites us, all at the same time."
Other nominees for the prestigious award were Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin's "I Like It," Brandi Carlile's "The Joke," Drake's "God's Plan," Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow," Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All The Stars," Post Malone and 21 Savage's "Rockstar," Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey's "The Middle."
