Google Introduces Bitcoin Currency Symbol To IOS Keyboard

Google added bitcoin's 'B' symbol to its Keyboard on iOS devices, indicating the leading cryptocurrency's growing acceptance in the mainstream industry. The feature, however, is not added to Android keyboards. The addition of the bitcoin currency key reflects Google users' growing interest in bitcoin. According to Google Trends, 'What is Bitcoin?' was the most popular search question in the United States and United Kingdom for 2018.

Cryptocurrency Exchange Exmo Opens Branch in Turkey

"The Turkish market has become an incredibly pleasant discovery for us: after adding the Turkish lira to the platform and launching the Turkish version of the website, the numbers of traders from the Eastern Region undoubtedly pleases us", said Sergey Zhdanov, CEO of Exmo Cryptocurrency Exchange. Exmo, a leading crypto trading platform in Eastern Europe, said the entry to the new crypto market follows the launch of a Turkish language version of its website and introducing support for the Turkish lira (TRY).

Bank of China joins new blockchain platform for homebuyers

The Bank of China is joining PropTech, a new blockchain platform for homebuyers, Hong Kong news outlet The Standard reported. The platform was launched by Property development firm New World Development and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute or ASTRI.
The Bank of China, a state-owned Chinese bank, is perhaps the first bank user of the platform which aims to replace paperwork operations with digital authorization.

Blockchain Most Overrated Word Of The Year: Survey

"Blockchain" was the most overrated word of 2018, according to a recent media survey. Media Post's Research Intelligencer reached this conclusion on the basis of data collected by interviewing 120 marketers and 181 ad agency executives in January to find out what words or terms were given too much weight in the advertising industry last year. Blockchain consumed a disproportionate share of industry conversations in 2018, which may be one of the reasons it was also named the most overrated word of the year, said Media Post's editor in chief Joe Mandese.


Oman's Bank Dhofar Joins RippleNet For Cross-border Transactions

Oman's Bank Dhofar is now among the first few financial institutions from the Middle East to join Ripple's enterprise blockchain network RippleNet to enable faster and secure real-time cross-border transactions for its clients. The bank aims to help non-resident Indian's (NRI's) living and working in the Sultanate of Oman to easily, cheaply and instantly send money back home to their families. The bank has already successfully performed an international transaction to India in less than two minutes.

Bitcoin rises 10% in a week; Nearing $4,000 level

Bitcoin looks set to touch the key $4,000 resistance level as the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization continued the rally for the third consecutive day this week. Cybercriminals turning to formjacking as returns from cryptojacking diminish

Cybercriminals are now resorting to alternative money making methods like formjacking as returns from ransom ware and cryptojacking are diminishing, the latest Symantec Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR) says. Under this method, cyber criminals load malicious code onto retailers' websites to steal shoppers' credit card details. More than 4,800 unique websites are being compromised on average every month, according to the report.
