The digital edition of The Apollo: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, released on November 1, featuring songs from James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye.
The 32-song soundtrack also contains music from Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Billie Holiday.
The album also features a recording of President Barack Obama showing up at a campaign fundraiser at the famed theater in Harlem, New York, on January 19, 2012.
Gaye's "What's Going On," the Queen of Soul's "Rock Steady" and the Godfather of Soul's "Say It Loud -- I'm Black and I'm Proud," as well as Gladys Knight and the Pips' rendition of "Home Is Where the Heart Is" are also part of the soundtrack.
It also features Fitzgerald's "How High The Moon," Holiday's "Strange Fruit," and Brown's "Lost Someone".
A new song, "Don't Turn Back Now" by five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper with vocals by Ledisi, is also part of the soundtrack.
Grammy nominee Dondi Bastone and TunesMap founder G. Marq Roswell produced the soundtrack.
The Apollo documentary, which chronicles the unique history and contemporary legacy of New York City's landmark Apollo Theater, premiered on HBO on November 6.
The CD and two-LP vinyl editions of the soundtrack, featuring liner notes by Pharrell Williams, will be out on December 20.
The documentary features footage of the team that runs the theater and interviews with several artists.
