Chris Brown Strikes Deal In Illegal Monkey Ownership Case

Chris Brown has struck a plea deal in his illegal monkey ownership case, which includes being banned from owning a monkey for six months.

According to TMZ, the terms of the plea deal indicate that Brown can't buy any monkeys until June 6, 2020. He also has to pay $35,000 to the monkey retreat facility where his old monkey is now living. The facility gets to make a decision as to whether Brown has visitation rights to see the Capuchin monkey.

If Brown meets the conditions of the plea deal, the charges of illegal animal ownership will be dropped in June.

Last year, the 30-year-old singer was charged with two misdemeanors over his possession of a pet capuchin monkey without a permit. However, at the time, he denied owning it and said the monkey belonged to a relative in Las Vegas.

Brown eventually voluntarily turned over the exotic pet to authorities as they were reportedly in the process of obtaining a search warrant and planned to raid his home.

Brown posted a picture on Instagram in early 2018 showing his daughter playing with the capuchin, named Fiji.
