Eminem made a surprise appearance at the 92nd Academy Awards on Sunday to deliver a dazzling rendition of his iconic 2002 track, "Lose Yourself."
The rapper rose onto the stage of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, after beloved composer and Hamilton-star Lin-Manuel Miranda introduced a video montage of times in the past in which radio hits have featured in iconic films, including The Breakfast Club, Ghost, Rocky III, Almost Famous, and Do The Right Thing, among others.
"Lose Yourself" was taken from the soundtrack of the 2002 film, 8 Mile, which stars Eminem and tells the story of an up-and-coming Detroit-based white rapper named "B-Rabbit," whose story loosely revolves around the experiences that the rapper had in his formative years.
The song won the 2003 Academy Award for Best Original Song, the first Hip-Hop song to achieve this feat.
Immediately after the performance, Eminem took to Twitter to share a clip of Barbara Streisand announcing his 2003 win, writing "Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity... Thanks for having me... Sorry it took me 18 years to get here."
Meanwhile, Eminem dropped his 11th studio album, Music To Be Murdered By, in late January.
