R. Kelly Trial Delayed After Electronic Devices Seized

Following the execution of a search warrant at embattled R&B singer R. Kelly's property, prosecutors have found hundreds of electronic devices that purportedly contain mostly concert and audio recordings, which now need careful and close analysis.

Kelly's trial, which was originally scheduled to take place on April 27, 2020, in Illinois, has been pushed back to October 13 to accommodate for the time it will take the prosecutors to study the new evidence.

The 53-year-old singer, who is currently jailed without bond at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, is facing charges on 13 counts in several jurisdictions, including being involved in the prostitution of a minor in Minnesota and kidnapping and sexual exploitation in New York.

The charges followed the release of the 2019 docu-series, Surviving R. Kelly in which several women stand united against the singer, who has long been accused of abuse, pedophilia, and predatory behavior toward women.

He has since been shunned by several artists within the R&B community and was also taken down by the streaming services, Apple Music and Spotify.
