The Chris Cornell estate has shared the late Soundgarden frontman's previously unreleased cover of the Guns N' Roses song "Patience."
The song was recorded in 2016 at Los Angeles' Henson Studios and was was released on July 20, which would have been Cornell's 56th birthday.
"And the streets don't change but maybe the names," Cornell sings in the cover, backed by an acoustic guitar. "I ain't got time for the game 'cause I need you/Yeah I need you."
On Cornell's Facebook page, his widow Vicky Cornell wrote, "His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories and art. It is true a man is not dead while his name is still spoken … and, through his art, an artist's soul still burns just as bright as ever upon all those that look up to him and his memory."
"Releasing music that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us — his heart and his soul. His love and his legacy," she added.
According to the YouTube credits, the track was mixed by Brendan O'Brien, who also worked on Soundgarden's 1994 LP, Superunknown.
"Patience" originally appeared on Guns N' Roses second album GN'R Lies in 1988.
