Trapt Threaten Lawsuit After Facebook Account Deleted

Trapt threatened to file a lawsuit against Facebook after its account was deleted by the social media giant.

Facebook took action after the rock band shared a Proud Boy meme to promote their new account on social media site Parler.

It was a graphic showing the silhouette of a Proud Boy holding Lady Liberty, with the words, "Don't Worry Girl, We Got You" that provoked Facebook.

Trapt lead singer Chris Taylor Brown, who is in charge of the band's social media accounts, shared the controversial post on Twitter and said, "For posting this pic and saying the same thing in the post, Facebook has completely deleted the TRAPT FB account. They said don't use the phrase 'Proud Boys.' I specifically told FB trapt fans that I could not say the name. I will be suing Facebook."

U.S. intelligence designated Proud Boys as a "dangerous white supremacist group," which frequently spews far-right venom.

When social media users reported the band for "hate speech," Facebook replied, "Thanks for taking the time to report something you feel may go against the Facebook Community Standards. We removed Trapt's profile from Facebook."
