Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited has acquired 100 percent of Shakira's music publishing rights, including publishing and writer's share of income.
In a career spread over three decades, the Lebanese-Colombian singer's catalog comprises 145 songs.
The bestselling female Latin artist of all time, Shakira has won three Grammy Awards and 12 Latin Grammy Awards.
Announcing the deal, Merck Mercuriadis, founder of The Family (Music) Limited and Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited, said, "It's wonderful for us to welcome, Shakira, the Queen of Latin Music and much more, to the Hipgnosis family."
"I know Hipgnosis will be a great home for my catalogue—and I'm so happy to partner with this company led by Merck, who truly values artists and their creations and is an ally to songwriters everywhere who care deeply about the continued life of their songs," Shakira said.
Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited is the first U.K. listed investment company offering investors exposure to songs and associated intellectual property rights.
It recently acquired 100 percent of Lindsey Buckingham's publishing rights, Jimmy Iovine's producing royalties as well as 50 percent of the global copyright and income interests in Neil Young's entire song catalog.
