Metallica's "Enter Sandman" features in a new commercial for Ford's all-new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor, a desert-racing inspired version of the auto giant's F-150 pickup.
"Enter Sandman" is the opening track and lead single from Metallica's self-titled fifth album, released in 1991. Vocalist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield wrote the lyrics. The single reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum certification.
This is the second time Metallica have allowed "Enter Sandman" to be used for commercial purpose. Previously, it was authorized for a trailer for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare."
Ford's chief communications officer Mark Truby said, "When we thought about what song captured the new Raptor in all its dune-bashing, desert-running glory, one stood out: 'Enter Sandman.' It's a song that has almost never been used commercially, but luckily Metallica are Raptor fans."
