Fusen Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (1652.HK) announced Monday that Compound Potassium Hydrogen Phosphate Injection developed by its unit Jiaheng (Zhuhai Hengqin) Pharmaceutical Technology Company Limited has received approval from China's National Medical Products Administration as a phosphate supplement.

The company noted that Compound Potassium Hydrogen Phosphate Injection, Shanweixi, is primarily used as a parenteral nutrition supplement and to treat hypophosphatemia in adult and pediatric patients when oral or enteral supplements are not feasible, insufficient, or contraindicated.

The injection is a Class B drug under the National Healthcare Security Administration. It scientifically calibrates between monopotassium and dipotassium phosphate in order to rapidly treat phosphorus deficiency as a new-generation phosphorus-potassium compound formula. The characteristics of the drug include high safety, rapid onset, dual supplementation of phosphate and potassium, and multi-guideline consensus.

The simultaneous potassium supplement helps stabilize membrane potential, and prevent the risk of rhabdomyolysis and arrhythmia induced by hypophosphatemia.

According to China Medical and Pharmaceutical Economic Information Network, the sales of Compound Potassium Hydrogen Phosphate Injection in China were RMB343 million and RMB413 million in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
