Kings of Leon are set to make history by becoming the first band to release an album as a non-fungible token, or NFT, which is a type of cryptocurrency that contains unique assets such as music and art.
When You See Yourself will release on March 5 as a NFT on YellowHeart, a streaming platform based on blockchain technology. The auction is set to go live at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, March 5.
The album will also be released on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
When You See Yourself is the eighth studio album by Kings of Leon. The band had earlier released singles "The Bandit" and "100,000 People" from the album.
The release will come in the form of three different types of tokens for three separate packages in a series called "NFT Yourself." They contain a special album package, a live show package, and an audiovisual package.
