Tame Impala's 2015 classic "The Less I Know the Better" from their third LP Currents has reached 1 billion streams and entered APRA AMCOS' The 1,000,000,000 List.

The Australian music rights organization announced the milestone reached by the song on Monday (May 3). Tame Impala leader Kevin Parker collected the honor at the PRO's head office in Sydney.

The One Billion List acknowledges streaming numbers from all major services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, YouTube Music, Vevo and Amazon, and it's said to be the first award of its kind to recognize a songwriter's achievement.

During his acceptance speech at the event, Parker said, "I owe APRA a lot, thank you everyone, this means a lot. Thanks for supporting me."

He also recounted how the song was meant for Mark Ronson's album. "During the recording session," Parker told APRA AMCOS staff, "I was working myself up to tell him I was going to take it back."

APRA AMCOS CEO Dean Ormston called the producer a "visionary" and applauded his far-reaching success.

"He has created a sound and a global following, and has the world's best creatives queuing to work with him," Ormston said. "It's a testament to Kevin's work that his 2015 hit 'The Less I Know The Better' has remained globally current."

Parker wrote, recorded, produced and mixed "The Less I Know the Better," which is now four-times platinum certified in Australia and double-platinum in the U.K.
