Styx have announced that their new studio album, Crash Of The Crown, will be released on June 18 on the band's label, Alpha Dog 2T/UMe.
The legendary rockers' 17th album, which was written pre-pandemic and recorded during the pandemic, will be sold as clear vinyl, black vinyl, CD, and on digital platforms. Fans can pre-order it at https://styx.lnk.to/crashofthecrownPR and at Styxworld.com.
The title track of the album was released on Thursday, premiering exclusively during Eddie Trunk's "Trunk Nation" program on SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
The song "Crash of the Crown" features James "JY" Young, Tommy Shaw, and Lawrence Gowan.
Gowan said that it's the song he is most proud of. "The beauty of it is that it's the culmination of all our talents crammed together into one song, ABBEY ROAD-style. I also got to use some gear I never thought I'd have the chance to play on a STYX record like Tommy's Hammond B3 organ, my Minimoog, and my Mellotron," the Styx lead vocalist added.
