Tokyo Olympics: Shocking Defeat For US World Champion Hurdler Grant Holloway

Team USA suffered an embarrassing display in men's 4x100m relay and a shocking defeat for their world champion hurdler Grant Holloway on Thursday in Tokyo Olympics.

The American men's relay team failed to reach the final after finishing sixth in their heats.

Jamaican Hansle Parchment beat Grant Holloway in a thrilling final in men's 110m hurdles. Parchment blazed past strong favorite Holloway, the second-fastest man ever in the event, to stage one of the biggest upsets of Tokyo 2020.

Steven Gardiner of Team Bahamas finished ahead of the United States' Michael Cherry and Michael Norman to win the gold medal in the Men's 400m final.

However, American spirits were lifted by Ryan Crouser beating his own Olympic record to defend his shot put title.

Katie Nageotte (USA) won the women's pole vault gold by clearing the bar at 4.90m after defending champion Katerina Stefanidi (Greece) and world champion Anzhelika Sidorova (ROC) failed at that height.

Canada's Damian Warner is the decathlon champion with an Olympic record 9018 points.

Defending champion Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium defended her title in women's heptathlon competition.

Belgium are the men's hockey champions. The gold medal was decided through a shoot-out after the final match against Australia finished 1-1.

Sandra Sanchez of Spain is the first ever Olympic champion in karate, winning the kata competition with a score of 28.06.

China's 14-year-old Quan Hongchan scored perfect tens to win women's 10m platform diving gold.

Table tennis powerhouse China won the women's team final.

At the end of the competitions on Day 14, China leads with 34 gold, 24 silver, and 16 bronze to make up a total of 74 medals.

The United States is second with 29 gold, 35 silver and 27 bronze, while hosts Japan is placed third with 22 gold, 10 silver, and 14 bronze.
