Build-A-Bear Workshop Adds 11% On Reporting Improved Quarterly Results

Shares of specialty retailer Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. (BBW) are climbing more than 11% Thursday morning after reporting improved second quarter results.

Net income was $6.8 million, or $0.42 per share in the second quarter compared with net loss of $13.9 million, or $0.93 per share, in the same quarter a year ago.

Excluding items, earnings were $6.9 million or $0.43 per share

Revenue for the quarter increased 134.7% year-over-year to $94.7 million, helped by more than 100% jump in retail sales.

Looking forward, the company has raised its full-year revenue outlook to the range of $375 million - $385 million from more than $338.5 million provided earlier.

"Our positive trend continued in the second quarter as we once again delivered record-breaking profit as well as strong growth in total revenues over both the fiscal 2020 and 2019 second quarters," said Sharon Price John, Build-A-Bear Workshop President and Chief Executive Officer.

BBW, is at $18.76 currently. It has traded in the range of $2.23- $21 in the las one year.
