Singapore Stock Market May Be Stuck In Neutral On Wednesday

The Singapore stock market has moved higher in consecutive trading days, gathering almost 50 points or 1.6 percent along the way. The Straits Times Index now sits just above the 3,180-point plateau although it may spin its wheels on Wednesday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is mixed to higher, with support from oil stocks tempered by weakness from technology shares. The European markets were up and the U.S. bourses were mixed and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.

The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
