Kanye West has announced that his upcoming album Donda 2 will be Stem Player exclusive.
"Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube," West wrote on Instagram. "Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It's time to free music from this oppressive system. It's time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order."
Stem Player is a $200 priced music stream device that was created in partnership by Yeezy Tech and Kano Computing. The digital player allows users to split music into stems, i.e. isolating drums, vocals, bass, samples etc. It also enables users to manipulate these stems / samples and create loops from them.
Kanye, who recently changed is name to Ye, has claimed in a media release that he generated over $2 million in sales from his Stem Player device since Thursday February 17, to Saturday, February 19. That means the rapper sold nearly 10,000 units in that time frame since announcing he would be releasing his latest album exclusively on Stem Player.
Donda 2 was scheduled to drop at midnight on Tuesday, February 22 but has yet to be released.
