Demi Lovato Drops Angry New Single 'Substance'

Demi Lovato recently dropped an angry new single, "Substance," the second single from their upcoming album Holy Fvck.

"So I ask myself: Am I the only one looking for substance?" Lovato sings on the track. "Got high, it only left me lonely and loveless/ Don't wanna end up in a casket/ head full of maggots, body full of jack s-t/ I get an abundance/ Am I the only one looking for substance?"

"Substance" was was written by Lovato, Oak, Keith Sorrells, Alex Niceforo, Laura Veltz, and Jordan Lutes (Jutes), and produced by Oak, Sorrells, Niceforo.

Holy Fvck, the pop star's eight studio album, drops on Friday, August 19 via Island Records. The album is a follow up to Lovato's 2021 album, Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

"I'm so excited to share another taste of what's in store for this album. We can all relate to searching for something more in life, and I want this song to make you feel like you're having a damn good time while doing it," Lovato shared.
