Joni Mitchell surprised fans by delivering a full set performance at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival on Sunday, July 24.
The folk music legend performed a full 13-song set with Brandi Carlile, Marcus Mumford, Wynonna Judd, Blake Mills, and Jess Wolfe among others.
It was the 78-year-old singer's first appearance at the festival since 1969. She has been struggling with health issues and rarely appeared in public since suffering a brain aneurysm in 2015.
"I just realized Joni's the least nervous person up here," Carlile joked, according to social media video from the set.
Mitchell performed "Big Yellow Taxi," "The Circle Game," "Summertime," "Love Potion No. 9," "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," A Case of You," "Both Sides Now" and "Just Like This Train" during her set on Sunday.
