Extending the downward trend seen over the past several sessions, stocks have moved sharply lower in morning trading on Friday. With the steep drop on the day, the Dow has fallen to its lowest intraday level in well over a year.
The major averages have moved roughly sideways in recent trading, lingering near their lows of the session. The Dow is down 389.51 points or 1.3 percent at 29,687.17, the Nasdaq is down 184.52 points or 1.7 percent at 10,882.28 and the S&P 500 is down 59.22 points or 1.6 percent at 3,698.77.
