New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde recently revealed that she is working on a new album.

In an interview with Ensemble, the pop star explained why it took so long to start work on her next project.

"I mean, I do just take a long time… I do a lot of research, I write a lot down. Sort of a big chunk of work before I actually start writing music. So yeah, that's been a really big part of it. It's been super exciting and I feel excited about what's coming," she told the New Zealand outlet.

Lorde, who took a gap of four years between her second (Melodrama) and third (Solar Power) albums, said her intention is to move as quickly as she can for her untitled fourth album.

"This one, I really am trying to. I don't want to wait, you know, so take from that what you will," added the 26-year-old "Green Light" singer.

Lorde, whose original name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, also addressed the criticism of Solar Power in the interview.

"Obviously, some people liked it, some people didn't like it. I think the third album is like always a real… you do sort of cross over in a way, you know, you're not new anymore, and also you want maybe different things," she said. "I had real things I wanted that I just had to do with that album, and I feel more clear and calm for having done that."
