Kendrick Lamar has been added to the lineup for the 2023 edition of the Roskilde Festival set for June 24-July 1 in Roskilde, Denmark.

The American rap icon is among 16 new acts revealed in the announcement, which also features Angélique Kidjo, Caroline Polachek, Weyes Blood, Code Orange, Indigo De Souza and Special Interest.

The influential rapper will return to the biggest music festival in Northern Europe following an eight-year hiatus.

"His most recent performance at Orange Stage in 2015 was a true show of force, and this year's concert at our main stage is on track to become one of the highest highs of the summer," the organizers said in a statement.

In 2022, Lamar released the soul-baring epic Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which ties personal pain to generational trauma across 75 exhilarating minutes. In February, Lamar won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album with Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.

The queen of afro pop, Angélique Kidjo returns to the festival where she debuted in 1994.

Singer/songwriter Caroline Polachek, who recently released her universally-acclaimed album Desire, I Want to Turn into You will play the Roskilde Festival for the first time this summer.

Weyes Blood returns to the Roskilde Festival following her majestic 2019 show at the Pavilion stage.

Indigo De Souza is putting up her first show in Denmark just months after the release of her highly-anticipated new album All of This Will End.
