Shares of Apellis Pharmaceuticals Inc. (APLS) are up nearly 12% at $73.81 in premarket trading Monday, fueled by reports from Bloomberg News indicating that bigger pharmaceutical companies are showing interest in acquiring the company.
Apellis has two FDA-approved drugs - Empaveli, for the treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, approved in May 2021, and Syfovre, the first and only treatment for geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), approved as recently as February of this year.
