ABC News has announced "Superstar: Aaliyah," a one-hour special documenting the artist's life, music and legacy, will air on ABC on Wednesday, June 14th from 10-11 pm ET/PT. The special will be available on Hulu the following day.
The primetime special explores how Aaliyah emerged as a chart-topping musician, actress on the rise and fashion trendsetter as a young teenager. It will shed light on the circumstances of her underage marriage to R. Kelly and circumstances around the plane crash that caused her death in August 2001. The special will also show how Aaliyah's relevance continues as a new generation experiences her music decades later.
"Superstar: Aaliyah" will feature exclusive interviews with persons who were close to Aaliyah, including Damon Dash, Barry Hankerson, and recording engineer and producer Jimmy Douglass.
The special also features interviews with several artists, including Justine Skye, Sevyn Streeter and will.i.am., in addition to interviews with fashion designer Karl Kani and designer and stylist Aleali May.
