U.S., U.K. Sanction Members Of Russia-Based Trickbot Cybercrime Gang

The United States, in coordination with the United Kingdom, sanctioned eleven members of the Russia-based Trickbot cybercrime group that has targeted the U.S. Government and U.S. companies.

Concurrently, the U.S. Department of Justice unsealed indictments against nine individuals in connection with the Trickbot malware and other ransomware schemes, including seven of the individuals designated.

The individuals targeted by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control are key actors involved in management and procurement for the Trickbot group, including administrators, managers, developers, and coders who have materially assisted the network in its operations.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
