Rome Ramirez has announced that he is leaving Sublime With Rome, the band he co-founded with the surviving members of Sublime.
"After almost two remarkable decades, I am announcing my departure from Sublime with Rome at the close of 2024. The upcoming performances over the next year will allow us to reflect on countless incredible memories together!" Rome said.
"Over the last two years I've been spending countless hours pouring my soul into my solo music, and the excitement to share these songs with you is building up! I've got some really big news that I can't drop yet. Just wait!" he added. "Singing and playing guitar for this iconic band has been a lifetime opportunity and just flat out, absolutely epic. Carrying on the Sublime legacy has been a trust I'll forever cherish. This is only the beginning…"
Ramirez made the announcement after the surviving Sublime members performed a gig on Monday (December 18) with late singer Bradley Nowell's son Jakob on vocals and guitar.
Ramirez began performing with Sublime's Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh in 2009. After changing their name to Sublime With Rome due to a legal challenge from Nowell's estate, the band's debut album Yours Truly, released on July 12, 2011, broke the top ten on the Billboard 200.
The band embarked on a tour in 2019 in support of their third album Blessings, which features singles such as "Wicked Heart" and "Light On."
After a successful 2020 during which the band dominated the rock and alternative music charts and performed shows in sheds, amphitheaters, and major festivals worldwide, they had an incredible tour with Incubus in 2021.
The band unveiled their new EP Tangerine Skies in November.
Currently, Sublime with Rome has almost 261 million all-time streams, and over 642,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. This is in addition to the legacy statistics, which include 8 million monthly listeners.
