Huntington's disease (HD) is a rare, inherited neurodegenerative disease characterized by a gradual deterioration of the nervous system. It affects approximately 40,000 adults annually in the United States. The typical symptoms of HD include chorea, marked by involuntary jerking or twisting movements, alongside cognitive deterioration and mood disturbances. There are only two approved drugs for Huntington's disease namely Teva Pharma's Austedo and Prestwick Pharma's Xenazine, both indicated for the treatment of chorea associated with Huntington's disease.
The global market for Huntington's disease treatment is estimated to reach $2,932.2 million by 2030 from its 2023 valuation of $945.8 million, reflecting an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.5%, according to a report by Fortune Business Insights.
