Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton addressed the band's future after confirming that they are retiring from touring.

In a new interview with Charlie Kendall on his "Metalshop" podcast, Hamilton answered a number of questions.

Regarding Aerosmith's future plans, Hamilton said, "We don't know what the future holds, but it won't include touring."

On the possibility of replacing frontman Steven Tyler, who suffered a vocal injury during a concert in Elmont, New York, last year, Hamilton said, "There's been no talk at all about going on the road with another singer. I can't imagine it."

Asked if his Aerosmith bandmates have any plans for music projects in the near future, he replied, "I'm sure all of us have music in our future and it will manifest itself in ways that we haven't planned yet."

"I've been playing in a band with some good friends," he added. "We have a bunch of really good songs and we hope to be putting them out soon and hopefully doing some gigs."

Hamilton's replies to Kendall came in the form of an email, as he is currently undergoing radiation treatment for larynx cancer.
