Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" video has surpassed one billion views on YouTube. The song featured as the lead single on the Detroit rapper's third album, The Marshall Mathers, which arrived in 2000.

The music video, directed by Philip G. Atwell and Dr. Dre, which was posted on the YouTube platform in 2010, features cameos from comedian Kathy Griffin, Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, and Eminem's bandmates from the hip-hop group D12.

The video begins with Em in a hospital gown in a mental health facility with comedian Kathy Griffin as one of the nurses. It shows the rapper terrorizing pedestrians in a red-and-yellow superhero suit, rapping in the center of a group of bleach-blond doppelgängers and serving up onion rings at a fast-food restaurant.

The visual won Best Video and Best Male Video at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. At the awards show, Eminem recreated the video, performing the track with an army of Slim Shady lookalikes.

The song's lines, in addition to bringing out Eminem's persona, name dropped some pop icons such as Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee, Will Smith, Britney Spears, Carson Daly, and more.

"The Real Slim Shady" peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the rapper's first song to top the charts in the U.K. and Ireland. The song got an award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 2001 Grammys.
