Aethlon Medical Provides Update On Hemopurifier Device's Potential To Combat H5N1 Bird Flu

Aethlon Medical, Inc. (AEMD), a medical therapeutic company, on Friday provided an important update on its Hemopurifier device in relation to H5N1 avian influenza (Bird Flu).

This announcement comes as concerns grow over the spread of H5N1, with reports of 60 human cases across eight U.S. states and the recent declaration of a state of emergency in California.

The Hemopurifier is an investigational device designed to remove enveloped viruses and harmful extracellular vesicles from the bloodstream. It uses a proprietary resin bound to Galanthus nivalis agglutinin (GNA), a plant lectin that targets the sugar mannose found on the surface of enveloped viruses like H5N1.

Major central banks continued to dominate the economic news flow this week too, led by the Federal Reserve, as they announced their latest policy decisions. The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
