Malaysia Bourse Poised To End Losing Streak

The Malaysia stock market has finished lower in consecutive trading days, sinking more than a dozen points or 0.7 percent in that span. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index now rests just shy of the 1,630-point plateau although it may stop the bleeding on Monday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is upbeat, with support expected from the technology and oil stocks, in particular. The European markets were down and the U.S. bourses were up and the Asian markets are tipped to follow the latter lead.

Apart from the confirmation of Kevin Warsh as the next Fed chair, the main news on the economics front this week included key price data from the U.S. and the first quarter economic growth figures from major economies. Both consumer prices and producer costs have started to reflect the effect of supply shocks due to the Middle East conflict. In Europe, GDP data was in focus, while inflation data from China dominated the news flow in Asia.
