Cellectis S.A.(CLLS), a biotechnology company focused on gene-editing technologies, presented promising data at the American Association for Cancer Research - Immuno-oncology or AACR-IO 2025.
The company showcased a novel strategy aimed at enhancing CAR T cell efficacy in treating solid tumors.
The approach utilizes Cellectis' TALEN gene editing technology to develop "Smart CAR T cells" that express a recombinant IL-2 variant or IL-2v immunocytokine to localize anti-tumor activity within the tumor microenvironment, reducing systemic toxicity.
The data presented demonstrated that the CAR T cells, engineered to induce IL-2v expression in response to tumor-specific cues, led to significant boosts in anti-tumor activity both in vitro and in vivo. Cellectis' strategy offers a safer and more effective method for enhancing CAR T cell therapy for solid tumors.
CLLS closed Tuesday's (Feb.25 2025) trading at $1.49 down by 1.45 percent on the Nasdaq.
